Beta-alanine is an amino acid found in pre-workout supplements. It may cause a temporary tingling sensation, usually in the face, hands or arms. This is harmless and subsides within 15 to 20 minutes.

L-theanine is an amino acid found naturally in tea. It is often paired with caffeine and is associated with calm, focused energy without jitters.
